If you’ve ever wanted to go on a cruise without flying out of the country, good news — Malaysia is getting its first homeport Chinese cruise ship this December.
Called Piano Land, the cruise will be based in Penang and Port Klang, offering Malaysians an accessible new luxury getaway option.
It’s part of a new partnership between Hwajing Travel & Tours and Astro Ocean Cruise, aiming to put Malaysia on the map as a cruise destination in Asia.
The ship will be offering two itineraries: a short 3D2N trip between Penang and Port Klang, and a slightly longer 4D3N cruise that includes a stop in Langkawi
You’ll be able to board from either Penang or Port Klang — whichever’s more convenient — and set sail on a floating hotel that’s basically a mini city at sea.
With 13 decks and a gross tonnage of 70,000, Piano Land has 880 cabins, ranging from ocean-view staterooms to luxury suites with their own jacuzzis (yes, in-room jacuzzis on a cruise ship).

It can fit up to 1,760 passengers, so expect plenty to do while you’re on board
Think buffet spreads, duty-free shopping, movie nights, a swimming pool, full-on spa, gym, library, and even a dedicated mahjong room.
There are also six restaurants and multiple bars, so you’ll never go hungry — or bored.

Whether you’re planning a quick escape with friends or family, this could be one of the easiest ways to feel like you’re on a luxe getaway
There will be nightly live performances, including Broadway-style shows, at the ship’s grand theatre, while families can look forward to kid-friendly activities and halal dining options.

Bookings are now open for sailings in December
You can book directly on Hwajing Travel & Tours’ official website.
